Since all this occurs in public, HBO can use cameras and sound pick up equipment to give an "up close and personal view" of car dating and alley dating. With todays equipment, you can see and hear all the goings on in the car during actual dates. For RB'ers you can actually hear the prices quoted live--similiar to the SW board's recommendations. Further, the SW's know the gig, so they act out quite well--you get the eager beavers to the burned out gals.
The bad thing is it should make public dating questionable. If someone used nightvision equipment, you could have gotten clear shots of all the activity. Further, none of the "johns" knew they were on camera and the discussions were recorded with no microphones on the SW's.
