"Cancer"

We met upon the brink of youth
In a place so far away
The pain that then encased my heart
Still lives a bit today

She said don't ever worry
For whatever may ensue
Remember that from this day forth
I will take care of you

We walked together down life's road
For fifteen years as one
And often spoke about the battles
We had lost and won

Then one more challenge faced us
As disease came into view
I said don't worry, I'll be here
To take good care of you

This illness daily takes a bit
Of strength along the way
But she was so content to know
I'd be with her each day

Now fate has turned another page
And changed our destiny
I said you promised you'd be here
To take good care of me

She said I always keep a promise
This you know as true
My spirit will be with you here
And I'll take care of you

Even on this board, I'm sure many of us have or even are dealing with cancer in our families. My thoughts are with all of us, anywhere, who are or love victims of this horrible killer.

There are many resources in the bay area for those dealing with this, a simple search (yahoo, etc.) will link you up.

Good luck in your recovery. It will take a long long time.

I'm sorry about your loss.

I believe the only person who can take care of you, and who you can depend on for the rest of your life, is you.

I'm SO SORRY to hear about your loss & all the suffering that goes with your loss May the intense waves of grief that you feel, today, become further & further apart with the passage of time.

I lost my Sister to Breast Cancer & I took care of her when she was dying & suffered. This was a genuine, extremely heart & mind opening experience & at the same time it was difficult & VERY sorrowful.
At least I got to say "Good-bye" to her & I had her in my life for as long as I did.

None of us are promised a tomorrow. Live every day & minute to the fullest, as if it were your last.

I'm really sorry about your loss....but this is important, I'm sure your beloved would want this; When one of us falls, the other will keep going.
Good luck

That is a very beautiful poem !!

Having lost someone to cancer myself, I can
tell you that the physical pain deep in
your stomach will go away. And the bittersweet
memory of your life together will remain and
give you strength in the future.

True love is one of the few things in this life that
never dies.
