"Addiction to RedBook itself?"
A number of us share the feeling we are addicted to the hobby.

I also find myself almost unavoidably coming back to RedBook. I scan the reviews daily, and these discussions more than daily. I find it's taking more and more of my time. I'm almost compulsive about this.

Anybody have a similar experience?

I used to be addicted to the hobby but don't see as many girls now. On average I see maybe three girls a month. I see less girls now because my standards are a little higher after reading the reviews. I would rather be a little more patient now. Plus, it's getting more expensive to see providers so that makes me slow down too.

Well, it's 1:30 in the morning, and I wanted to check out the board before I turned in. Been doing this more and more lately. Especially since the Conservatory was added. Seems like there's always something interesting. You're not alone.

I've slowed WAYYYYY down in my hobby "practice"... I'm lucky to see two providers in one month, now.......

I find I participate more on the message board than anything else at Redbook mainly because I think it's fun. I am a VIP member and, oddly enough, I don't read the reviews that much. I've submitted a number of reviews already, so I could have "normal" access for about the next 6 - 8 months.

Am I addicted..........

Peace.....

I don't know about "addicted" to it but I am like one of the other reviewers, a VIP Member who likes to read the message board. Inside the RedBook is definitely worth the money for the information it provides, but the message board is a "real time" forum which keeps me both amused and informed.
Thanks to the RedBook its probably saved me a fortune in time, effort and money and has answered a few questions about things I had been wondering about as a result of my other surfing on the net in the Bay Area.

I admit it, I'm addicted!!! I can't read the reviews because I cancelled my VIP membership, but I think that I look at the message board way too much!! Although I like the Conservatory a lot and try not to post on the general board. I am facinated by the freak out by one registered member that is going on, on the general board right now. But, there is no way I am going to start commenting on it!!

BTW, I'm addicted too. Late last summer, I decided that I was indeed addicted and stopped, but fell off the wagon (or is it on the wagon?) a couple of months ago. <sigh>

9. "bet I'm not alone"
Despite the fact that both my addiction to the hobby and to the RB website are debatable, I bet I am by no means alone in one regard:

these activities strongly support each othe other.

Seeing the reviews and board comments on some providers really fuels my curiousity to check them out.

And of course, once I have, it's always tempting to check back with the reviews and the board and compare notes with others.

In fact, even though I was an infrequent hobbyist before even knowing about RB, lately it's hard for me to think of one without the other!

So you see, I have RB to blame for my hobby habit, and the hobby to blame for my RB habit--

10. "RE: Addiction to RedBook itself?"
I remember reading a post some time ago (in the Street section) where an addicted hobbyist described cruising the "stroll" even when he didn't have the time or money for action. I believe he said it was kind of a "next best thing" to actually engaging in the hobby.

Is that what this board is to some of us? Beyond the information we exchange and the ability to discuss things that we could never in a million years discuss with 99.9% of the people we know - does posting here give us a feeling similar to (just less intense) than the experience of seeing somebody new?

What do you think? I'd like to hear from both sides of the aisle.

Probably; I'm on what looks to be a long hiatus from the hobby, but I still have to check RB daily or at least every couple of days.

Here's hoping it's a good hiatus (imposed from within vs economically imposed from without). But, either way, your input is always appreciated.

Addicted to Redbook? My answer, unfortuantely, is "yes". The Boards were getting a little boring recently so I told myself it was about time to check in only every 2 or 3 days. Well, that never happened. LOL The topics picked up and like another poster wrote, I often check in before going to bed. Bad, bad, habit!

I think many of us are obsesive information junkies, who thrive on obtaining and acting on the best information available to us. The fact that we get better sex for the buck from the information is, as many have noted, a very positive incentive to come back and acquire some more information.

Yup, I'm addicted.

RedBook is a lot cheaper than the "hobby" itself, and one can read about a wide variety of encounters in the reviews. The message boards have a lot more personal tone than many of my encounters with providers. (Not trying to insult providers here, just saying that the average intelligence, sensitivity and communication level of the providers who post is a lot higher than what one gets in the average fee-for-service situation, and without any time pressure.)

I'm taking a long break from work, and I don't really enjoy traveling alone and have no partner, so I am spending much more time online. I'm really enjoying it, but I wonder if I will be able to find the time when I go back to work in May.

LAST EDITED ON 26-Apr-01 AT 06:25 PM (PDT)

The biggest symptom of my RB addiction is that I'll SWEAR to only sit down at the computer for half an hour, and then some thread catches my eye or I just wanna get goofy or I starting 'chatting' with someone and the next thing I know its 2 hours later (or more!)!!

Something that no one has mentioned which is a big deal for me: I learn A LOT about how to relate to people on the board. I have tons of reactions to what people say (jealous, angry, infatuated etc.), and I have time to consider my response rather than do something impulsive.

I also think that, at one level, we have a VERY high level disussion/conversation/dialogue going on here about some VERY juicy topics indeed!

Finally, my addiction is clearly Hezekiah's fault since he started this thread which forced me to post!

panther

P.S. Yes. I'm addicted.

Looong time and constant lurker. Never bothered to post on the general board. The silliness was ridiculous. Besides, sanity would always be more eloquently stated by someone else. The advent of the Conservatory, is significant because being ultimately lazy, I would never have taken the time to register and post. Appreciation to RB and always, the ladies.

What is great about being addicted to RB is that there is a presence of community here. Even though I have only met a few providers and emailed a few members, most people seem to be very nice. The girls seem to be more fun if they know you are from Redbook too.

I can stop any time I want. In fact, I have stopped several times. I just post and read to keep up on current events.

Actually, this board is very addictive because it is knowledgeable, comfortable and the posters have a common interest. The knowledge gained on many subjects, including the very valuable information about the various providers has saved me a lot of money and time. I have always done research prior to purchasing and this is the best knowledge base around for this subject.

Thanks to all of you for making my hobby much easier.

I often check redbook several times a day but I wouldn't say I'm addicted. I can do without it for a few days too. I like logging on though just to get current with the providers out there.
