"Leaving Voice Mail..."
Okay, this morning I get a page to check my voice mail... I call put in my code, etc. Nice gentleman starts out by telling his name, how he likes my website and some things he's read on the net.... then... nothing, once again the voice mail cuts off a man who hasn't given me any contact info.

If this was the first time this happenned, I wouldn't feel too badly, but this happens fairly often. It's very frustrating, and it concerns me that someone may think that I have purposely failed to return their call.

So, please, gentlemen when you call leave your name, your best contact number, any directions we should have (it's okay to leave a message or not, etc.) and then you may proceed to tell us anything you like... well, except you'll get cut off by the voice mail, but at least we'll be able to call back and ask what it was you were saying!

Would it upset/aggrevate you if someone called ONLY to compliment you on your website or your looks and was NOT calling to book an appt.?

I was NOT the one who called, but sometimes I'll see a GREAT ad or website and I'll try to send e-mail (if an address is available) or call just to say "I think you're a VERY beautiful woman and your website is excellent! I wish you much success with your biz..... Peace...."

Would that bother you?

Peace.....

I do get messages and emails like this sometimes, DK. I am not bothered by them at all. I even respond to them, when received via email because someone thought enough of me to take the time to let me know what they thought.

He was telling me how excited he was because he was coming into town on business all this week and he had been looking at my website for a long time... and wondered if our schedules would work out. So, while he was complimenting me on my site, he also sounded very interested in getting together, but was cut off mids-sentence.

Do you have a time limit on your incoming messages? If so, you might state that in a greeting on the voicemail so the guy knows he has to complete in 60 seconds, or whatever.

and there are some answering systems that are "voice activated" that is, if the person leaving the message pauses, or speaks too softly, the machine/system thinks he/she is done, and cuts off...if you have such a system, it might help to mention something to that effect in your greeting...hope that helps

I played with my voice mail a little, and the problem seems to be one of time... I rambled about nothing until it cut me off. It didn't last very long (to me). So, I guess I'll have to get out a stopwatch and figure out exactly how much time it gives... I'll update my greeting accordingly, after I finish figuring out how long metrocall thinks my messages should be. Hopefully, I'll be able to avoid this in the future.

If you buy voicemail from a service provider, they should be able to extend the message length on your request.

Are a lot of "service providers" selling voice mail these days? ;)

Thanks, I'll look into that!

Some providers --and some of my friends -- specifically request that callers say their name and number TWICE because sometimes the cell phone reception is choppy etc.....

Whenever they ask, I do it. That would probably help.

i have a two way pager, that i can receive e-mails with. However, if they are not sent by someone with the same company I use, there is no return e-mail for me to respond. I often get messages/requests and can't do a thing since I have no clue how to contact the peson back. the person says something like, "i want to see you today, xxx", but does not include any contact info. I just hope that if they want an appointment, they will call or page again!?
