"Is this Conservatory working?"
I see many registered RBers are still using General Discussions, rather than this locked topic area.

I appreciate that Mr RB et al took the time to construct this area for us. Should we make a little more effort to use it? If so, we might decrease the time we spend wading through all those posts that amount to little more than:
"You're a racist"
"No, you're a moron"
"Well you're a bigger moron"

So here's a little substance to offer:

I was cruising Mission/Van Ness in SF last Monday at about 11 pm. I saw only 2 SWs, but there was at least one LE car per block per street. I parked and walked for a while: I got multiple offers to sell me drugs (not my thing), but only saw one SW. She was about 40, 5' 5", black, BBW, very warm personality. She said she doesn't do SW much, mainly acts as mother/buddy to her teenage friends on the street, but whe does take opportunities that present themselves.

I asked her if she'd come to a Hot Tub with me, and we got in my car and drove up to the tubs on Van Ness at Broadway (recommended on this board). Unbfortunately they were closed, and as there was nothing else around I drove her home, gave her $20 for her time and companionship, and paid for her bottle of peppermint Schnapps at the local Safeway.

So I have little to review but we did negotiate: one hour, multiple releases, and full body massage for $75 (I could have argued her down to $60, I think). She claims to be a licenced masseuse (the massage part up'd the price from $40) and a trained nurse. I'm not sure how much to believe that, but she was clearly educated: her speech and thoughts were coherent, aware, and intelligent.

She gave me permission to write about her here. Her name is Cinnamon, and I have her phoine number for those that want it (send me a message).

I think the conservatory is working because I haven't seen any flaming on any of the boards yet. Well, except for the street section today from Biker's digital camera part 3 posts. Other than that it's been good.

I don't post often, but do read the boards often. I had to comment on the Conseratory question. Yes it is working in my opinion. The thread about 'Biker' posting the pictures is a good example. A, for the most part, very intelligent, reasoned discussion with out the flaming that I have seen on a number of other threads. It does my heart good to see people agree to disagree in a civilized manner. To bad there isn't more of that and less of the flaming and name calling that shows in other threads.

My 2 cents for what it is worth.

I think it's working, but so far not as I had imagined.

I really like the relative peace, quiet, and familiarity in here, but there's still a lot of great stuff on the public board.

I'm sure you have read the very long thread about recent activity on the SW board. The dialogue there was very well thought out and everyone seemed to express their opinions with their claws retracted. (for the most part)

I don't think having the conservatory should eliminate member posts from the regular board. I think it's just another option. The regular board still gets more responses in a shorter time and sometimes people do post anonymously AND intelligently. Plus some of the anon posts on the regular board are very funny! I know the board isn't here for my comic relief, but there is no reason why this can't be entertaining as well as informative.

6. "Fun and thought provoking!"
I had actually stopped posting for awhile because the general discussion board has turned into a flame feast and people were saying things that did not reflect well on them. Even many of the female providers got caught up in the flame wars, and as for me, once I see that, I rule them out as possible encounters.
This board seems to have escaped the pitfalls of the general discussion and street action board. It seems more like a community. Which is nice.
We need to work and communicate with each other in order to help legitimize an activity that is looked down upon by mainstream society.
I know this may sound outrageous to some, but we ought to have a party at some point, to be set up strictly through private e mails of regular contributors whom Redbook can verify as being safe.
It might be fun and unpredictable.

What a great idea!!! I doubt I would find an excuse to sneak away to get to it, but I might.

I think there's a good chance some of us might be surprised at whom we meet there! I often wonder whether some of you are people I already know at work or elsewhere.

I would love to go, and love to see some providers there. Any other responses?

I like that idea. I would like to meet some of the providers that post here, that I can not afford to engage. (Retired w/ fixed income) I've seen anumber of them on web sites, but that is not anywhere near as satisfying as meeting them in person and having an opportunity to converse. (many seem to be very articulate and very intelligent.) I would definately try to sneak away to attend. HEY REDBOOK, might that be possibly to try to set up?

(Pardon the spelling, even with a graduate degree, I'm the world's worse speller)

Just my 2 cents worth

11. "Good idea..."
It would have to be by invitation only and perhaps by nomination only.
For instance, each of us would get to nominate 10 (or less) people, with the top 30 being invited.
In all likelihood, only 20 would probably show up.
The voting would be restricted to posters on the conservatory.

Oh boy... now you're taking me back to the BBS days where they used to have "MUPT"s - Modem User's Pizza Thingie or Modem User's Party Thingie.

Considering I actually went to a couple of those, just to see who those people on the other sider were... I would probably show up to something organized in RedBook, just to meet some of the contributors.
