There's a new film opening this week in SF/NY/LA called "Center of the World" that will be of more than passing interest to us. I think it opens at the Embarcadero Cinema this Friday.
Here's the synopsis and links to view a trailer and 'official' website. (Their official website is excruciatingly "slow" -- but it's a 'slowness' that is intentional. It's very "artistically cool" and worth the "frustration" IMHO to see what they've done. Hint: As far as I can tell, it's set up like a 'virtual tour' and you have to click on the 'invitations' to proceed further.)
"Director Wayne Wang creates a steamy portrait of love and sex in the technological age with Center of the World, an erotic drama about a young computer wizard (Peter Sarsgaard, "Boys Don't Cry") whose immersion in the digital world has left him unaccustomed to normal social interaction. When he persuades a beautiful stripper (Molly Parker) to spend three days with him in Las Vegas, their arrangement becomes a journey into the dark secrets of their sexuality. Shot on digital video, the film reunites Wang with "Smoke" and "Blue in the Face" collaborator Paul Auster, who co-wrote the script with his wife, author Siri Hustvedt."
Just a little high-culture sexual fuel for the proper gents and ladies of the 'Conservatory'!
Cherio and Cheers!
