"MSC - RIP"
MSC Management seems determined to find out exactly how much money they can suck from us patrons before we just stop coming in. I was talking to my ATF about the place last night. They now are charging $20 for every 5 min. you spend in ANY of the booths. The only exception is the Star rooms, of course that only allows you to see the features. Plus they are requiring at least 5 "dances" from every girl per 4 hour shift. That means the girls have to pull one of us in to the booths (at $20 for 5 min.) at least 5 times per every 4 hours or pay the differance themselves.

One of my best experiences at MSC involved being in a booth for a full hour with my ATF. If I did that now, MSC would collect $240 from me for using the booth plus the $18 entrance and $16 back room fee. That is $274 and I haven't given the girl a penny yet! How in the hell is she suposed to make any money???

Bottom line, I will not be going back until MSC Mgnt comes to their senses and backs off from this trend. Sooner or later they will realize that it is hard to make money when no one shows up at all!

You cannot fool all the Patrons all the time! Enough is enough!
Let them lick their wounds - lack of participation at this juncture is the best weapon!

The previous boycott brought mixed results. However, I believe the fact that the recent changes hit the patron directly in the wallet will encourage a stronger resolve to take our business elsewhere. I will not return until I hear that management has come to their senses, a very unlikely scenario.

4. "MSC is dead for so many reasons..."
For one thing, if you saw the B section of the Chronicle yesterday, there's big talk of redeveloping the 10 block, urine soaked stretch of Market that MSC festers.

The ads in the datebook lately have been nothing short of pandering. They paste the likeness of 6 or so girls like so much rancid meat... no attempt to be flattering in any way. Not that these girls are all that great to begin with... the fact is, a lot fo the pretty talent has left for a better scene.

Now, in a period economic uncertainty, they've jacked up their cover charges, and now... the meters.

So how does this spin out? We stop going, the dancers miss their quotas, they leave... its over.

RIP: MSC... Mitchel Brothers, Crazy Horse, AMPS, here we come!

Go to www.msclive.com and then email them using their suggestion box. I've already sent an open letter to management earlier this week which I've just posted. Naturally they were very eager to respond and listen to a gentle critique of their parking meter system. Not! I think the only way to get their attention is to hit them in the wallet. Let's show our non-support for the new system by not going or not paying for private shows.

I think the hot tubs and AMPs will be getting more business. Why waste your time and money at MSC at this point?

This money grubbing isn't new. If y'all remember, they tried the song counting Deja Vu style. It failed because there was a steep drop in PLs.

Next they tried the exorbitant stage fees (~$300+) and decreasing the number of dancers by ~50%. It failed for similar reasons and because alot of dancers quit.

Now this parking meter thing. If history repeats itself, and with these MSC buffoons running the show, perhaps a similar outcome will result. We can only hope.

7. "MSC going out of business in September"
I heard from a dancer last night tht MSC is not planning on renewing its lease this Fall, and is therefore going out of business. According to my source (a half naked woman trying to get twenties from me), this is why they're trying to squeeze every dime they can out of both the customers and the girls.

On a side note, she indicated that they were required to bring eleven (11) customers into the meters per four hour shift or be forced to pay the MSC 20$ per non instance.

If that was the case, it doesn't quite make economic sense (not that anything MSC does makes any sense).

But they are spending alot of $$$ to install those damn meters and they also installed new benches/seats in Bangkok and the Cinema room. They also installed new urinals, and I thought they also put in new AC/heating systems.

If I knew I wasn't gonna be around in a few months, why make such capital improvements?

MSC can't force them to pay for non instance, that's a stage fee and are against the law. Does this half naked woman have a name?

Base on the constant remodeling of the place, I would tend to believe msc already owns the building. If the people of msc do not own the building and descide to move out, what other business can use such a large place in that part of town? In other words, the landlord will make sure msc get a sweetheart deal.

14. "So what does "RIP" really mean?"
LAST EDITED ON 27-Apr-01 AT 01:25 PM (PDT)

"Rip-Off" or "Rest In Peace?"

Just so you understand your new customer fees...

I'll make a few semi-informed assumptions here: When stage fees reigned supreme, each and every dancer paid an average of about $200, per four hour shift. At about 35 dancers per shift, that's $7000 total per shift going to MSC "management" for doing absolutely nothing. At 4 shifts per day, that's about $28,000 per day in stage fees alone. For 365 glorious business days a year, why that's a grand total of $10,220,000. That's ten million two hundred and twenty thousand dollars in crisp stealthy cash, just for stage fees alone. All of it to the MSC management. For doing absolutely nothing.

This year, the practice of collecting stage fees from dancers ceased entirely, a sudden and complete loss of at least ten million cash this year alone. Vanished into thin, legislative air. Perhaps you can now begin to see the utter desperation on the part of MSC management...

Which is why you now have your brand new "customer fees" If 35 dancers paid $200 per four hour shift for a total of $7000, then $7000 divided by a $20 "dance" charge equals 350 twenties per four hour shift that must be somehow collected from the customers and handed over to MSC. 350 divided by about 35 dancers is 10, or about ten mandated "dances" per dancer, per shift.

Did you seriously think these guys were going to simply kiss ten million bucks goodbye?

16. "RE: So what does "RIP" really mean?"
You got it right except for the number of dancers, it's probably 1/2 that working on average everyday, so you are probably looking at $5M and that's not even counting the door charges.

<Did you seriously think these guys were going to simply kiss ten million bucks goodbye?>

No, but at the same time they had many months to prepare for this legislation and THIS SYSTEM was the best they could come up with? I don't know if they could

<All of it to the MSC management. For doing absolutely nothing.>

You hit the nail on the head. That's why a former strip club janitor could manage (and I use that term lightly) such a lucritive club. All he had to do was open the doors, and really that's pretty much all he did.

Now when faced with the actual task of managing he has with one policy change created a recession in his club and can't figure out why dancers and customers aren't coming back. $20 for 5 minutes, $240 an hour? Twice the price of MBOT? for a booth at MSC? That's beyond greedy, it's just plain stupid.

We caught several moles causing trouble on the Yahoo chat site and handled problem immediately. It shows how desperate MSC is getting. They just don't understand fairness and respect.

I am a dancer at MSC, but since the management's change in policy, I am reconcidering no longer working there. In order to change this new money-taking policy, the dancer's as well as the customers should not contribute to managements pockets. I am suggesting that if you are a dancer there, ask your regular customers if you can hook up with them outside of MSC, or dance at another club. If you are a customer of MSC, ask your favorite dancer if you can see her outside of MSC, or stop visiting MSC temporarily until the policies change. This change in policy is just for management's pockets to get fatter, and hurts the dancer (esp. those who do not do extra's). The customer is only paying more money to MSC which should be going to the dancer who deserves it since she's doing all the work.
