"Are amateur contests rigged?"
I sometimes went to MBOT on Mondays for the contest, but the dancers I thought were the best, never won. I went to one in Sac last night and three pro's raided the contest. A dancer from Vegas won first, hardly an amateur>

I don't think the contestants at MBOT are amateurs. The 'contests' are just a way for the club to find 'new blood'.

I don't think any of those "amateur" contest are. Can you imagine college coed thinking I'll go out to Mitchell Brothers and strip, nah never happen in a million years.

Here's my experience: I was passing the Centerfolds Club on Broadway as I saw 2 black girls talking to a door guy about "amateur" nights. Girls were real young they could have been easily straight from highschool for all I know. They looked hot. One was wearing tight fake leather body suit golden in color, the other one(less pretty) had exteremly tight cut off shorts(she was very skinny too) I walked towards Kearney and looked back - as they finished talking to a door guy and walked towards Hungry I. The vibe I got from them was that they were desperate to get into the club scene. I only wished I had $$$ and a vehicle that day. It was 5pm btw. So what I'm trying to say is that amateur nights do exist, although I would have to agree with LouisCypher on the fact that very few college co-eds woulld attend. Most likely confused teenagers from East Oakland, strung out on crack...And that ain't bad!

Oh they exists, but the ones staged by MBOT and NC are merely dancers a) trying out for that particular club b) trying to win a cash prize if they have one ... but either way they are professional (meaning a seasoned dancer) dancers.
